The amendments to Annual Holidays Act entering into force in the beginning of April limit the accumulation of annual holidays during parental leaves and restrict employees’ right to postpone their holiday due to illness or incapacity to work.
During maternity, paternity or parental leave, annual holidays will in the future only be accumulated during a period of six months. Currently holidays are accumulated during the whole leave. Moreover, employees will have the right to postpone their holiday due to incapacity to work only after a six days’ waiting period, whereas currently there is no such waiting period. However, employees that have earned full annual holidays are in any case entitled to at least four weeks’ annual holidays.
