Three distinguished specialists join Procopé & Hornborg
The new year has brought three senior appointments at our firm, as Ulla von Weissenberg has joined Procopé & Hornborg as Partner as of 1 February 2019, Pia Tanskanen as Counsel as of 14 January 2019, and Turo Sumu as Counsel as of 15 January 2019. The appointments continue to bolster the firm’s standing in the front row of Finnish legal services industry.
Partner Ulla von Weissenberg is a highly recognized expert in international maritime and transport law, international trade and related insurance issues, and frequently represents clients before courts and in international arbitrations in connected disputes. Prior to joining Procopé & Hornborg, Ulla was a partner at a major Finnish law firm, and she boasts over two decades of experience with the shipping industry. At Procopé & Hornborg, Ulla heads the International Trade and Transport team.
Counsel Pia Tanskanen is an experienced transaction lawyer joining the firm from a global steel company, where she acted as general counsel. With her 20+ years of experience as an in-house and general counsel in major Finnish firms, Pia has an exceptional understanding not only of law but also of business processes and commercial aspects in various industries. Pia joins the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions team.
Counsel Turo Sumu has extensive experience in insurance law, especially in the fields of transport and international trade. During his career, Turo has handled a wide variety of challenging matters such as carriage losses and shipping and insurance disputes. Turo joins the firm from another major Finnish law firm and leads Procopé & Hornborg’s Insurance practice.
